The other day, for the umpteenth time in recent months, I watched as Skype ran. My mum-in-law spoke to her grand daughter. The little one watched her Dadi coo, her Dadi blew kisses and laughed. It was not too many years ago when we saw video phones in sci-fi movies and wondered if we would see such marvels in our lifetime, or if they were specks in an uncertain future.

But that future is already here.
