phir kya hua, didi?
There were many things that creative communications people did not do well many many years ago when cable in India was not even the glint of fibreoptics in Murdoch's eye. Many that they probably did disastrously. But they succeeded in giving us (me?) absurd memories, and laughter that is absurder still.
Main bhooka hoon
bhojan laao
jo kucch bhi hai le aao
main bhooka hoon!
Jukhe sharam se nayan
hui bechain,
draupadi boli...
and of course, the all time classic:
bela gulab juhi champa chameli
(bela gulab juhi champa chameli)
phool hain anek kintu mala phir ek hai!
(phool hain anek kintu mala phir ek hai)
ek
anek
ek
anek
Some of these social messages have just been burnt into my consciousness. Like unexpected burps they rise out of my mind and show me 2-D silhouetted forms swimming through water, dancing around a tree or circling an elephant. Birds flying with a hunting nets in their beaks, rats running around exemplifying solidarity.
Badly made, or cleverly implanted?
[unexpected burps? huh?]

it was DD's version of animax... yes?
Animax is Animax's version of DD's futuristic visionary storytelling!
Ek titlee, anek titliyaan.
You might also remember the Tree of Unity with the crazy animated dance, the music is to die for.
These were not badly made, I think they were bravely made.
The Tree of Unity of course...and the three blind men and the elephant..the list is endless.
Yup they were not badly made, though I wonder if their impact on us was more because we wer unexposed to tv and impressionable, or if they were in fact effective.
Bravely made sounds better than it is probably, what with them having just made what they would, then! Today it would be bravely made. Then, it was all they could do.
can you give me all the lyrics to ...
Main bhooka hoon
